Code of Conduct
Respect: Visitors, Members, and Staff shall treat others with respect and courtesy at all times.
Safety: Visitors and Members must follow these Rule and Policies, any posted rules, and any
instructions from Rec Center Staff. Unsafe behavior will not be tolerated.
Facility Use: The Rec Center’s facilities and equipment will be used responsibly and for their
intended purposes.
Prohibited Behavior: Any form of discrimination, harassment, abuse, disruptive behavior, or physical
altercation will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the premises and suspension or
revocation of facility access.
The Rec Center is an alcohol and smoke free facility. Alcohol, tobacco, vaping, and weapons are
strictly prohibited on the premises. No warning will be given.
Safety and Emergency Procedures
Emergency Contacts: In case of emergency, immediately notify staff (and dial 911 if appropriate).
First Aid: First aid kits are available at the front desk.
Emergency Exits: Emergency exits are located at various places around the building. Please
familiarize yourself with their locations.
Reporting Incidents: Any incidents or accidents must be reported to staff immediately.
Lost and Found: Report any lost or found items to the front desk.
Member Use
A Member may only use the Rec Center facilities during Open Gym Hours, with the following exceptions:
(1) A Member who is also a member of a team in an authorized sports league may use the facilities during League Hours for the purpose of playing in league games; and
(2) A Member who is a guest of an authorized Card Holder may use the facilities outside of Open Gym Hours, which use shall be under the direction of the Card Holder and in accordance with the Rec Center’s Card Holder Agreement and Rules and Policies.
Usage Fees
A Member using the Rec Center facilities during Open Gym Hours must pay a nominal usage fee of $1 per entry. In the alternative, at the Member’s option, the member’s usage fee may be $15 per month.
A member may request that the usage fee be waived in exchange for helping to clean the facility, as may be determined by the Rec Center staff.
A Member using the Rec Center facilities as a team member of an authorized sports league is not required to pay fees to the Rec Center during team league games.
Card Holders and Organizers are not required to pay entry fees, but shall pay the fees set forth in their respective Card Holder Agreement and/or Sports League Facility Use Agreement.
Guest Fees
A member using the Rec Center facilities as a guest of a Card Holder outside of open hours must pay a guest fee of $5 for each entry. In addition, for each use, all guests must sign the Rec Center registry verifying their name, membership status, and fee payment method.
Facility Rules
All Members and Visitors are required to enter the building through the East Lobby area (except for Card Holders and their guests).
Children under the age of 13 are not permitted in the Rec Center unless accompanied by a competent adult. The accompanying adult shall be responsible for the supervision, safety, and care of the child at all times while in the facility.
No pets are allowed at the Rec Center.
Members must use the gender appropriate locker room to change into gym clothes.
Lockers are to be used by assignment only.
No glass bottles are allowed in the Rec Center. Plastic water bottles, hydro flasks, and Gatorade/Powerade type bottles with screw-on type lids are allowed.
Members must wear proper athletic wear. No bare backs are allowed. Shirts or tank tops, pants or shorts, and gym-only shoes are required at all times.
Members are strongly encouraged to bring their own equipment to the gym. The Rec Center may have basketballs and volleyballs available to be checked out during Open Gym Hours, with Staff holding the Member’s ID as collateral.
At the discretion of the Rec Center staff, music may be played if the volume is reasonable and not disruptive to others. Members shall follow the instructions of Staff with respect to playing of music at the facility.
Gratuitous cursing or demeaning language shall not be allowed.
Court Rules
Members and Visitors shall not walk on the courts, other than as needed for recreational use. Members and Visitors must use the walkway mats to get to the courts and shall not cut across the courts.
No street shoes are allowed on the courts. Only non-spiked athletic shoes with non-marking soles may be worn on the courts.
Food or drinks are not permitted on the courts. Food and drinks are restricted to side lines and viewing areas only.
During Open Gym Hours, full court basketball is allowed if there is court space available. If there are any groups or individuals waiting to play on a court, then players must move to half court games so as to maximize the court space available to other Members.
Staff have the authority to stop full court games and make any reasonable changes at any time.
During Open Gym Hours, volleyball shall take precedence over basketball on the volleyball courts.
Basketball half court is allowed on the volleyball courts, but only if there is not a group playing or waiting to play volleyball.
Visitors and members are NOT to put up nor take down the volleyball nets. This can be done by the Staff upon request and at their discretion.
No other sports except basketball and volleyball are permitted on the courts unless specific permission is granted by Staff.
